9/11 Tribute Ceremony

Purpose: To remember victims of the worst terrorist attack in American history.

Objectives: Coordinate with the City of Roswell, Roswell Recreation and Parks Department, and Roswell's Emergency Medical Service personnel to demonstrate Rotary's commitment to this event and this community service.

The Program: The 9/11 Tribute Program was held on Tuesday this year at the Mike Gann Lake in Roswell Area Park. A Committee of 20 meet regularly prior to the event.

A blend of solemn remembrances, prayers and patriotic music punctuated this time of reflection with a backdrop of a giant American flag hanging from fire truck ladders and a mournful closing of taps. Shepherd's Men co-founder Travis Ellis was the keynote speaker and spoke of efforts to "never forget". Ellis works to save service men from PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.

May we never forget.
