In North Fulton, the YMCA provides numerous afterschool programs for at-risk children.
YMCA afterschool programs are held in 28 North Fulton schools, 10 of which are located in Roswell.
With a focus on social growth and academic achievement, Y afterschool programs serve K-5 with a variety of activities to help them become self-reliant, gain autonomy, develop relationships, and enhance and enrich their academic skills in a safe, supervised place.
Roswell Rotary funding provides financial support for 15 children from Mimosa, Roswell North, and Vickery Mill whose families cannot afford the afterschool program.
Program curriculum includes academic enrichment, homework assistance and tutoring, STEAM activities, a healthy snack, character development lessons, health awareness and physical activity, and nature education.
Roswell Rotary has been asisting the Y in serving these families for 15 years.
