Ed Klaas lived the better part of his childhood in East Cobb but moved around a lot before and after. He met and married his wife, Silvina, in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1999 while working for a law firm there. They moved to Roswell in 2001 and began to establish roots. Prior to starting Southern Sprinkler Systems in 2000, Ed proudly served in the U.S. Navy and later worked for several multinational businesses and law firms in Atlanta including BellSouth, Coca-Cola and Smith, Gambrell & Russell. Ed is the proud father of two amazing children, Teddy (15) and Mellie (12). When not working, he enjoy spending quality with my children on their many activities (Scouting, piano, band, school), travel (he's been to more than 80 countries), the wine industry, genealogy, and the great outdoors. He also loves to volunteer! Ed has lent expertise and experiences to a variety of local, state, national and international organizations as a board member, panelist, lecturer, speaker and worker bee. Among those are NFCC, Keep Roswell Beautiful, the Children’s Development Academy, Mustard Seed Ministries and Scouting, among others. He is most proud of the work that his company and family have done each year for the last decade and a half at Arlington National Cemetery with the National Association of Landscape Professionals. Renewal and Remembrance as it is called, has grown from eight volunteers the first year to over 500 from 38 states this year. Last year, he established a foundation with his two kiddos called Klaasical Music and we get gently used musical instruments into the hands of students who can’t afford them. This is something he would like to bring to Rotary as a project.
