President Nancy's Message
Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft At our recent Roswell Rotary meeting, Sindy gave a compelling and eye-opening presentation on identity theft. The alarming rise in cybercrime has left many of us questioning the safety of using our devices and credit cards. While her talk revealed the dark side of digital theft, it also empowered us with the tools and knowledge to stay safe. It’s easy to feel anxious about the risks, but with the right precautions, you can continue using your devices and credit cards confidently. After all, it’s not about avoiding technology altogether—it’s about being proactive and informed. This Week’s Speaker – Dan Garrett on His Inspiring Journey from “The Pole to the Pew” This week, we are thrilled to welcome back Dan Garrett, a former Roswell Rotarian, who will be speaking about his powerful book, “The Pole to the Pew.” In this compelling account, Dan shares the incredible story of how he and his team transformed the infamous Pink Pony—once a well-known adult entertainment venue—into a vibrant community center and house of worship. For years, the Pink Pony was a source of controversy in the area. However, Dan and his team saw an opportunity for redemption. Through dedication, collaboration with community leaders, and a commitment to positive change, they faced the daunting challenge of converting the site into a space where people could come together, support one another, and strengthen their faith. Dan will discuss the many hurdles they encountered along the way, including legal struggles and opposition, as well as the remarkable success of turning a divisive establishment into a place that now serves as a pillar of the community. The journey from “The Pole to the Pew” is a testament to the power of vision, perseverance, and faith in creating lasting, meaningful change. We are excited to hear Dan’s story of how this transformation was achieved, and the inspiring message of hope and unity it brings. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Dan Garrett and learn how a place once seen in a negative light became a symbol of growth and community restoration. Join us for this week’s meeting as we welcome Dan Garrett back to Roswell Rotary! Let’s stay safe out there! Millarky is an adopted 2 year old mix who is in training to be a therapy dog with Happy Tails Pet Therapy Inc. Click Here for information on how your pet can help to support the fight against polio!
The Kennel Klub was inspired by Zone 26 Past EPNC Greg and Valerie Owen’s dog, Mollie, who is giving up $10 worth of treats each month to be a Polio Plus Society member. Mollie, sporting a very special End Polio Now bandana on Rotary Zoom calls, quickly became the beloved mascot for End Polio Now in the Big West Zones. Mollie started asking her fellow four-legged friends to help her End Polio, and the Kennel Klub was born! And now Roswell Rotary Club'President's own Millarky has joined the club!
Within only weeks of launching, the Kennel Klub has raised over $3,500 (that’s over $10,000 with the Bill and Melinda Gates 2:1 match). Rotary is committed to raising $50 million per year, with every dollar to be matched with two additional dollars from the Gates Foundation.
How can you sign up your four-legged friend to join Millarkey in the Kennel Klub?
Just click on the link above. You can also make a donation to honor a pet that has passed. By helping End Polio, our best friends can continue to make the world a better place.
Help spread awareness by posting a pic on social media of your pooch in the bandana and hashtag it with #PPSKennelKlub.
