President Nancy's Message

Roswell Rotary Thanksgiving Newsletter

As we gather with loved ones this Thanksgiving season, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for each of you. Six months into the Rotary year, we have already achieved incredible things together, and I couldn’t be more honored to serve as your president.

Fundraising & Grants

Thanks to your dedication, we’ve netted over  $195,000 for charities, secured a $15,000 collaborative grant to help end human trafficking, and received a $5,000 grant for ADA-accessible picnic tables at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Additionally, we were awarded a $2,000 community grant to provide hats, gloves, scarves, and socks for 218 children in the Star House program, making sure they stay warm this winter. We’ve also collected over $20,000 for Foundation giving—an inspiring show of support for Rotary’s global initiatives.

Bunny Service Shirts

Our Bunny program continues to spread joy with 141 people receiving Bunny shirts and 33 receiving Bunny awards for their outstanding service. Altogether, we’ve completed over 30 service projects and events so far this year, truly living out Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.” I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished and so grateful for your commitment to energize Roswell through the magic of Rotary. Your passion for service has made all the difference, and I’m honored to lead such an amazing group of Rotarians.

Next Six Months

But we’re not done yet! With six months still ahead of us, I know we can continue to make an even greater impact. Wishing you and your family a blessed and joyful Thanksgiving. Thank you for all you do! Remember to join us at the December 5 meeting when Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson will speak.

Giving Thanks
New Members Jumping into Service

What an impact these six new club members have already made on Roswell Rotary. Diving into the deep end is the quickest way to learn about the club and to meet members.  Just amazed to see so many incredible efforts from the rookies! Our club is beyond grateful for your leadership and service.

  1. Shannon Harrison- Socks, hats, gloves, & scarves project for Star House. Delivered to Mimosa Elementary School.
  2. Frederick Levy-48 boxes packed for Navy military stationed on ships
  3. Priya Crumpton-Fishing Derby bringing together generations and City of Roswell Parks & Recreation
  4. Rabbi Alex Shuval-Backpack project for Crabapple Middle School Huskies Helping Huskies
  5. Bill Kolbrener-Peace poles.A Peace Pole is a monument that displays the message May Peace Prevail On Earth in the language of the country where it is placed. It usually displays 3 to 7 additional languages meaningful to the host site. The message is referred to as an affirmation of peace and its placement furthers Rotary's goal of building a culture of peace throughout the world.
  6. Sam Lane- Tennis shoe recycle project preventing used tennis shoes from hitting the landfill

Thankful for the impact these new members are having for our community!

Thank You Sen. Albers
Making a Video About Our flag

Today, a group of Rotarians trekked to the GA State Capital make a video Sen. John Albers explaining the inspiration for The Star Spangled Banner. After Sen Albers told this moving story during a Roswell Rotary lunch meeting, Sandy Buhler was inspired to have a video made that can be shared Interact clubs and school groups. It's a very exciting project and we appreciate Sen.Albers patience in letting us film him all over the capital for this video.

Why Volunteer at Bulloch Gift Shop?

It's FUN to volunteer at the Bulloch Hall Gift Shop! This picture shows just a few of our RRC members who staffed the register and bagged the gifts last year during Roswell ChristKindlMarket.

From Past President Lou Tabickman:

"Working at the Gift Shop was not only fun but was a great opportunity to meet new people from all cultures and backgrounds within and outside the Roswell area. One day an elderly gentleman came in with his grandchildren. He was visiting from Florida and upon signing the guest book, he mentioned that this was his first visit to Bulloch Hall, and it was very special. His name was Willis Ball, III. His grandfather was the architect who designed Bulloch Hall, Barrington Hall, Mimosa Hall, and the Roswell Presbyterian Church. You never know who you might meet!!"

From Kathy Igou:

"Shopping! I ended up buying so many stocking stuffers when I was working in the gift shop. Delighted my family and it made money for Bulloch Hall"!

Holiday Dinner at American Legion Post 201-Volunteers needed

On Friday January 24, 2025 (Note Date Change) , Roswell Rotary is hosting the Christmas Dinner for the Veterans of the American Legion Post 201 and the Alpharetta VFW at the American Legion Post 201 located at:

201 Wills Road
Alpharetta, Ga. 30009

The dinner is to be held at 6 pm. This is an annual sit-down dinner event for our Veterans. Roswell Rotary will be providing the dinner, and the Rotary Club of North Fulton will be providing the desserts. Rick Silver, who is a Mentalist, will be providing a dynamic entertainment show for the Veterans that will be no less than spectacular and fun!

We are looking for 5 people for set up and break down and at least 10plus servers. As we will be serving the Veterans in their seats. We will need to set up an assembly line of food plate preparers and then hand them off to the servers who will physically serve the Veterans. They will also clear the plates when completed.

Volunteer Here

Mimosa Elementary School
Interact at Work

The Mimosa Elementary Interact Club has completed its first service project!  They collected 76 pairs of sneakers in 3 boxes around the school campus. Rotarian Sam Lane came to talk a bit about why this charity is so impactful and…. They have collected the most shoes so far!  The 4th and 5th graders were so excited.

Thank you to Dana Brockriede, Teacher Liaison, and Rotarians Gabriel Prado, Sam Lane, and Leslie Bassett for your mentorship and inspiration.
