President's Message
A Look Back

I love reading about history, particularly about people and their journeys. This week, Francois Gauthron has travelled all the way from France to share some history about the WWII battlefields with us.

It's important to learn about Roswell Rotary's history, too. So, starting this week, we will be sharing some pictures of our history and the members who have made Roswell Rotary great! I hope you enjoy them!

See you Thursday!

President Becky

Francois Gauthron
This Week's Speaker

Francois Gauthron is the author of the new book,"Colors of War, Not Only Black and White, But Nuances of Gray" and a professional tour guide in Normandy. "My own army experience led me to be under U.S. command. Having many officers who were World War II and Korean Veterans was the essence of my knowledge of World War II. Many of these men were my guides when I had the great honor to drive them around Europe. After that stint in the army when I heard so many stories of the Second World War, I began guiding people on tours of the battlefields and other places of interest concerning that war." Francois is a native of Normandy. His mother was 16 when she was liberated by US forces in 1944.

Francois was licensed in 2000 as an official guide and lecturer and has had the opportunity to meet hundreds of veterans. One TripAdvisor reviewer writes, "Francois Gauthron, an acknowledged World WarII expert, is an exceptional guide! He is the premier native guide for the D Day landing on Normandy's beaches and the ensuing battles across France." The stories he heard from his family and from the army officers he chauffeured are the foundation of his book. The book is a compilation of his thirty-plus year interest in and fascination with military history.

New Member Spotlight
Dr. Richard Kaufman

A native of Boston, Dr. Kaufman is now a practicing podiatric physician and surgeon at Ankle and Foot Centers of Georgia in Roswell. He attended medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he earned his medical degree in 2015. Dr. Kaufman then went on to complete an all-encompassing Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery residency program at Drexel University’s Hahnemann Hospital, a 496-bed level 1 trauma facility in Center City Philadelphia, where he had the privilege of serving as Chief Resident during his final year. His expertise includes all aspects of foot and ankle care including simple and complex management/reconstruction, cosmetic forefoot/bunion surgery, and sports medicine.

Dr. Kaufman’s ties to Roswell go back to 2009, when he began dating his wife Kelly Kaufman, a Roswell native. They married at Roswell’s own Naylor Hall in April of 2013. Following his education and training, they moved to the Roswell area in July 2018 to raise their two-year-old son Ethan. While not practicing podiatry, Dr. Kaufman is an avid distance runner and passionate skier, and enjoys spending time with extended family residing here in the Metro-Atlanta area.
