The Mission: In honor of Veterans of the armed forces who served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam; Roswell Rotary Roswell Rotary will host over 60 veterans & volunteers on May 11th , 2021 for a full day trip to Fort Benning Army Base. With a community wide patriotic send off, buses will transport WWI, Korean and Vietnam war veterans to enjoy a VIP tour of the military base and National Infantry Museum. The visit will include a catered luncheon featuring presentations by General Pete Jones and other high-ranking officers who will also honor each veteran with a pinning ceremony. Roswell Rotary proudly supports all veterans continuing a tradition with our 11th Honor Air tribute..
What's It Take? In 2021, The cost of the trip is estimated at $15,000.This includes bus rental, catered lunch, vip tours, shirts and snacks. The trip is funded entirely by Roswell Rotarians.
Sharp Shooters Fund Raiser - On Dec, 8th, 2020 we hosted a Gun Fundamental Training Class at Sharp Shooters. Sharp Shooters donated 8 bays and free gun rental. Jet's Pizza gave 10 delicious pizzas. Proceeds from this fund raiser was donated to Honor Air. Over 40 attended. Rotary Global Scholarship recipient Maddy Scholar, a certified gun instructor led the class.
Partners: Roswell Police and the Patriot Motorcycle Guard will lead two buses beneath fire truck crossed ladders, past cheering Rotarians and Rotoractors, clearing traffic all the way down Georgia 400.
The Experience: Veterans receive a heroes welcome at Fort Benning with an interactive tour, a VIP tour of the Infinitary Museum, and a pinning courtesy of the US government. airport.
After a day long trip, buses will arrive back in Roswell to a cheering crowd. PR coverage for this trip includes local newspapers, TV news broadcasting, radio, and social media. PR coverage reaches tens of thousands in the Metro Atlanta area.
