Honoring Our Veterans

Our club loves our Veterans and we wanted to show them how appreciated they are by hosting a Veterans Day outing. Our club veterans, club family members who served and local area veterans were invited to join us for a special day in their honor and as a way for our club to thank them for their service!

We started the day off with a joint color guard combining veterans with future soldiers from the local JROTC. Senator Albers paid special tribute to our veterans on behalf of the state of Georgia and then veteran members of our club shared stories from their time in the service.

At the end of our program, members of the club lined the exit all the way to a charter bus holding American Flags and cheering for our veterans as they exited the meeting. Roswell Fire Department had a huge American Flag draped from a ladder truck to honor our veterans as we departed. Roswell Police Department provided us with a police escort as we visited several local war memorials and parks.

We ended the day at the local American Legion for a reception. We gave each veteran a token of our appreciation which included an American Flag, a specially designed Rotary/American Flag t-shirt and a glass with a thank you message from Roswell Rotary Club.

Many of our club veterans commented that this was one of the best things anyone had done for them to show appreciation for their service.
