Rockmart's Fountain Project!
Rotary Club of Polk County renovates fountain

Downtown Rockmart, Georgia just got a facelift!

Two years ago our club began renovating a fountain in downtown Rockmart. This fountain ran during the 1970s, and around 1980 was shut off and has been dormant since. Sherman Ross, our club foundation chair, had the vision do this. So, shout out to that guy! COVID threw a wrench in our progress, but we've made up for lost time over the last several months.

Our club is blessed to have, not only an amazing group of people, but some very resourceful people. Two of our members have basically done most of the work - Mark Lusted and Tom Foley (a spouse of a member, but we claim him). Not because other members didn't want to renovate a fountain, but because Tom can basically build/fix anything and Mark is an MIT/former nuclear sub guy and well... we sort of go out of his way and watched him work! Both of these guys are brilliant.

The project is almost finished. We still have some landscaping to do and a "Rotary Park" plaque to install. The City of Rockmart owns the property, so it will end up being a gift from our club to the city. To some, it might seem like a small venture, but it's been quite a large undertaking and apparently the whole city is excited about it. We'll post pictures of our progress and the photos will go about as viral as you can go here in little ole Polk County.

It's been very humbling to watch our little group do something so special. I'm extremely proud to call them my friends.

Here's some photos.
