Our Rotary Foundation at Work
Introducing Global Grant Scholar Gloria Andia

Gloria Andia will travel to London this September to pursue her Masters in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

In Gloria's own words, "Raised by two parents with careers in health, I have always had a precocious interest in pursuing a career in public health. After graduating from UGA with my Bachelor’s in Health Promotion, I joined the Peace Corps as a Community Health Promoter. I lived in the region of Cajamarca, Peru; working alongside my community partners to reduce rates of anemia and malnutrition in children, as well as working with the local education institutions on sexual health awareness. Due to COVID-19, all 7000 Peace Corps volunteers were evacuated back to the US in March 2020.

"After my return, I began working as a bilingual COVID-19 contract tracer for both the private and public sector, In September, I will begin my Masters in Epidemiology of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I hope to continue my career as an epidemiologist working in infectious disease outbreaks and continue to serve others with Rotary."
