Bruce Thompson, Labor Commissioner to Speak


Bruce Thompson spent six years in the U.S. Army National Guard. After the military, he became a serial entrepreneur, turning around several businesses across several sectors.  He moved to Georgia in 1990, where he dedicated himself to helping others and his church community. He served on several boards including the SBA Advisory Board, Truett McConnell University, First National Community Bank, and Etowah Scholarship Foundation.  In 2013 Bruce began serving his community as a state senator where he served as chair for the Science and Technology Committee, then the Veterans and Homeland Security committee, and the Economic Development and Tourism committee.  He has been recognized as "Legislator of the Year" for various bills he has authored into law.  Bruce seeks to use his extensive legislative experience to serve Georgia's workers and employers in his role as Labor Commissioner for the Georgia Department of Labor. He is dedicated to creating an agency focused on transparency, responsiveness, and fiscal responsibility.
