Youth Committee -The Rotary Year Ahead

Coming in HOT!  The 2025-26 Rotary year perfectly overlaps the school calendar and this year is robust.  So much to look forward to as our Roswell Rotary Club leans into celebrating our 75Th anniversary with RRC President Trummie Lee Patrick at the helm and Angela Medley becomes the board chair for all Youth-Focused activities.  But, of course, because the opportunities are great so too are the needs.  Where can you help?  What ideas do you have so our Roswell youth are better servant leaders?

The first week of August we will be holding the annual Youth 101 meeting for those of you involved as well as those of you interested in learning more.  Details to follow but, if you want more information now, call Angela now.  There is room for you.

We start off the year with the 2nd annual Huskies Helping Huskies (HHH) Backpack Drive for School Supplies immediately following the Thursday, July 24th meeting.  This is a phenomenally important boost to a Roswell Rotary inspired 501(c)3 but also for our club!  Why?  The school supplies are bought by you who feel so lead through the supplied QR codes, they are delivered to Temple Beth Tikvah for project chairs Rabbi Alex Shuval-Weiner and Priya Crumpton to organize then bring to Roswell Area Park for those in attendance to stuff the 40+ backpacks after the July 24th meeting.  It is energizing.  Last year we all left that first service project feeling blessed because we knew it was impactful AND fast.  Let’s do it again.

Traditionally the last youth event of the year is RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) for 6 rising Roswell youth leaders to attend in early June.  RRC sponsors these area high school students.  They will meet other evolving youth leaders throughout District 6900, they become better in touch with their own leadership style and come back home to live into it.  It is a very tangible example of the Rotary Motto of Service Above Self for the RYLA leadership pours themselves into the next generation annually.

The 9 months in between are filled with fishing, note-writing, serving food, reading and encouraging.  We hope you take the time to learn more about our Interact Clubs, Student/Teacher Awards, reading essays or scholarship applications. Of course, if you would rather jump into any one of our annual events like Leadership 20/20, Skipper Hoke Football Banquet or Roswell Relays, there is room for you.  The list goes on and there is room for new ideas too.  We look forward to engaging all of you.
