All are welcome!

Senator Saxby Chambliss’s public life is marked by a steady ascent through the ranks of American government, beginning with his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994. Representing Georgia’s 8th District, Chambliss quickly distinguished himself as a key figure in national security, chairing the House Intelligence Subcommittee on Terrorism and Homeland Security. In the wake of the September 11 attacks, he played a role in critical investigations into intelligence failures, helping to produce one of the first comprehensive reports on the shortcomings of U.S. intelligence operations. His leadership from 1995 – 2003 demonstrated a commitment to accountability and reform in the face of national crisis.

Chambliss transitioned to the U.S. Senate in 2003, where he served until 2015. His tenure included the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Senate Rules Committee, and chairing the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, and serving as the vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Known for his conservative principles, Chambliss nonetheless embraced bipartisan collaboration, and helped to shape the 2007 Farm Bill, immigration reform, and deficit reduction efforts.

Throughout his career, Chambliss remained deeply engaged in issues of national defense, agriculture, and economic policy, earning respect across party lines. Saxby Chambliss currently serves as a partner in the Atlanta Office of DLA Piper.  Though not without controversy, his legacy is one of service, leadership, and a willingness to tackle difficult issues head-on. For Rotarians, his career offers an example of principled engagement in public life.
