The '26 Hagan Cup Tennis and Pickleball Classic was met by great weather (thanks Pastor Chuck), generous sponsors, tasty food, and well tuned athletes. Both the 14th tennis and 2nd annual pickleball events were sellouts due the the laser focus of Rotarians and volunteers.
For the first time, the Hagan Cup champion was determined by a tennis trivia tie breaker between a male and female player with exactly the same point total.
In tennis, our second place woman was Annette Hodgson, second place man...our own Rotarian and sponsor Blake Turner.
That left two....a battle of the sexes. After much brain wracking, Julie Ann Ullman finished 1st for ladies and Andrew Chambers( whose wife Stephanie was the top finisher was n '25) became the '26 Hagan Cup Tennis Champion.
The afternoon pickle session was again filled with eager competitors. This event, remembering our own Trummie Patrick Jr, brings together players into two levels.
Thanks to Lee Hollingsworth, we honored our local First Responders . Their entry fees were paid by sponsors whose names will be on Roswell Rotary plaques placed in the new Fire/Police station. Pickle play was fast, furious, and hot. After the smoke cleared ( sorry), Marti Wdowicki was crowned women's winner and Roswell Firefighter Christopher "Cav" Cavender walked off with the men's title.
Mindy and I would like to thanks the CCR tennis / Pickle pros Harris, Mimi, Kyle, and Jordan for their smooth management of the event, our generous sponsors, and of course all the volunteers who make our G/T/P event the largest all volunteer fundraiser in the Southeast- Cheers
