Club Service & FUN

The ideals of Rotary that are built on the Five Avenues of Service cannot be accomplished without focus and continued improvement in the basic service upon which all others are achieved....Club Service.

This year we undertook additional service projects, and developed interesting and informative ways to keep our members engaged. This has further enhanced our awareness in the community, involved more Rotarians in different capacities and to leadership positions within of our club.

Newsletter - We published the weekly newsletter with attention grabbing graphics and improved communication to our members and the community at large. We expanded our exposure by including members of the media to receive each week.

Throw Back Thursday - We incorporated FUN into our meetings by celebrating our 70th anniversary. Each month we highlight a decade with a video showcasing what was happening in the world, Roswell and of course, photos of Roswell Rotarians. We are fortunate to have scrapbooks of past presidents back to the 60's. A member dresses the part of the decade and introduces the video. It has brought much laughter and a great tool for new members to become familiar with our history.

Awards - In addition to year-end awards, we recognize members service throughout the year with the "Gear Shifter Award". This award is given to the Rotarian whom in the face of an obstacle, shifted gears and found a way to get it done. We gave 14 awards during at our Dec .17th meeting and will continue to recognize these outstanding members throughout the year.

Programs - Our programs/speakers were centered around health, veterans and a splash of entertainment. From topics such as updates on Virtual Health Care, Stoke Prevention, Veterans Day, to an NFL referee, Unsolved Murder Cases, Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black and recognition of Police and Fire Officers of the year. Our meetings are lively and informative. Many of these programs were published in regional newspapers with a circulation of nearly 100,000. Additionally, more than 20 other articles appeared in press media as well as numerous social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).

Fellowship is the secret sauce of Roswell Rotary. We hosted "hump day" throughout the year. For us, it's 5:00 somewhere for and we proudly wear our parrot shirts and masks.
