Honoring Veterans Past and Present

This year RRC is honoring veterans past and present through 2 impactful initiatives that celebrate the sacrifices made for our country.  In collaboration with State Senator John Albers and Tran Bui Video Productions, we produced a special video highlighting the history of our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner", and the heroic fight at Fort McHenry during the war of 1812.  Filmed at the Georgia State Capitol, this educational video will serve as a resource for Rotary clubs and Interact clubs across the state, helping to inspire younger generations with the story of our nation's resilience and patriotism.  A QR code will make the video easily accessible for all clubs to use in their programs and help to promote civics amongst our students.
In addition to this tribute to history, we are excited to send a group of veterans on the 11th Honor Air Trip to Washington DC, where they will visit the various war memorials that honor their service. This deeply moving experience will include a tour of memorials such as WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War memorials, as well as the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
The Honor Air trip scheduled to depart at 5 AM, with a police honor guard escort to the airport, will include 100 veterans and 50 guardians.  The veterans will fly on a chartered plane, with buses and National Parks Police guiding them through the monuments.  The trip is partially funded by the generous legacy of Alex Chrzanowski, a Roswell High School teacher who went on the trip annually, and tragically passed away, along with the remaining donations needed from local businesses and community members.  No cost is accrued by the RRC. Veterans are able to participate at no cost, while guardians contribute $450 to help support the trip.  The group will return around 11pm, closing out what is sure to be an unforgettable day of honor and remembrance.
Through these initiatives, RRC is proud to celebrate and honor the men and women who have given so much in service to our country.  This is just one way we express our gratitude and ensure their legacy continues to inspire future generations.
The event was totally funded by donations from corporate sponsors and individuals.  No money was used from RRC operating budget.
