Veterans to Visit War Memorials

50 applicants from US War veterans, America’s hero's, on a free day trip to visit their Memorials in Washington DC on April 9,2025.

Many of the men and women who fought and sacrificed for our country have not had the opportunity to visit their own Memorials. Our World War II veterans and also our Korean War veterans are facing health challenges, so time is of the essence for these great men and women in addition, Roswell Rotary gave our Vietnam War veterans the “Welcome Home” they never received, honoring their service, sacrifice, and commitment to our country.

Here is how the Honor Air works: Approximately seventy World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War veterans' plus guardians, a doctor and emergency personnel gathered at the Roswell, GA Community Center in the early morning hours and traveled by motorcoach to the Atlanta airport. They flew on a chartered plane to Washington, D.C. where they were escorted on buses from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to the World War II Memorial. Then they visit ed the Vietnam and Korean Memorials and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery. That same day they returned to the Reagan airport, flew back to Atlanta and then by bus to Roswell. Every veteran will had a volunteer guardian to personally assist them. Veterans were provided complimentary wheelchairs thoroughly out the day, if needed.
