Alpharetta Rotary participated in this Alpharetta tradition by supporting the American Legion with a float we built to participate in the parade recognizing and celebrating armed forces veterans. Members built the float on a Thursday night, and finished the building early Saturday morning. Members rode on the float, which played patriotic music, and threw candy to children along the route. We had a retired service member from the American Legion on the float as our honoree. We finished the day with a picnic at the park where the parade ends. Alpharetta Rotary took first prize in the parade, a tribute to the work we did, and the awareness we raised for our veterans.
Yes that's right Rotary Club of Alpharetta got 1st Place for our float as we turned out to honor those who are serving and those who have served our nation.
The lovely plaque awarded to the Club for their float.
Rotarians Joel Canada, Lynne Riley, and Jim Paine raise the spirits of the crowds gathered.
