Members Matching Grant Stand-Up for Kids

On Oct 1, 2014 a member of the Rotary Club of Alpharetta hosted the 1st Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser as part of club's new member matching grant program. This event was to support Stand Up for Kids – North Fulton Intuitive (SUFK-NFI) a not for profit that has been a longtime charity support by the Club. The SUFK-NFI program provides financial support and life skills mentoring to homeless students who are working toward earning their high school diploma. This Rotarian became aware of the program financial struggles after losing a large portion of their annual funding from Fulton County.

The event was held Jekyll Brewing who frequently supports local charities by offering discounted admission fees for tours and beer tastings. Music was provided by George Martini as a donation. Capital Mortgage Advisors, owner, RC Thielemann covered the cost of food, table & chair rental, table cloths, utensils, decorations, bottled water, and other necessities. While Alpharetta Rotarians, Hans Appen, General Manager, Appen Media Group ran adds in the Alpharetta/Roswell Review and Milton Herald and Ali Moradi, owner of Seven Seas Mediterranean Café prepared the Brats and Soft Pretzels in keeping with the theme of Oktoberfest. Others who helped included Kelly Wargo, and Dawn Beck.

The event allowed the Rotary Club to support the Dream Trust and stipends for the student with an additional $3,638.
