Celebrating the 110th Anniversary of Rotary at Hop Alley with 1.2 million member around the globe. We shared the history of Rotary and the vision of one man Paul P. Harris in 1905. Paul was a Chicago attorney who formed one of the world’s first service organizations, The Rotary Club of Chicago. It was a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendship. Amazing how Paul’s idea flourished and in less than 16 years Rotary had clubs on six continents. Today we have 34,282 clubs and we are on every continent. We’re truly international. The heart of Rotary is its dedicated people who share a passion for both community service and friendship. Rotarians are neighbors, friends and community leaders around the globe. We bring together great minds who share diverse perspectives, share the conversation, and take action on the world’s most pressing challenges. We make a difference at home and abroad.
So you asking what does Rotary supports…we promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, save mothers and children, support education and help grow the local economies. We not only celebrated our 110th Anniversary we also celebrate 30 years in our effort to eradicate Polio. We are close to ending this horrible disease with only 3 countries showing active cases this year down from 125 in 1988 and in the last 2 weeks there have been no cases reported. “We are this close.”
