Literacy
Making a Difference; Building Membership

August is the planning time for International Literacy Day on September 8! The options are vast, with only a bit of planning to bring your good works for literacy into the spotlight. Thanks to DG Court's encouragement, I am sending each club in District 6900 a literacy newsletter once each month with links to literacy options. If you do not receive the literacy newsletter, please let me know by emailing me at brenda.c.erickson@gmail.com. There is so much need and there are so many Rotarians to address that need. I am here to help. My experience is with early literacy, but, If I am not able to answer your questions, I will search for someone who can. Importantly, I can't help you if I do not hear from you ... so share (for the newsletter), comment, ask! Have a great August!

From the Rotary Club of Peachtree City …

A project in motion brings new members and a lasting dynamic. Our project with Souns in Puerto Rico has given both those and more. The bond between RD6900 and RC7000 in the effort for early literacy. Please enjoy the video: vimeo.com/281499573

Pictured is a workday to ready Souns materials to deliver to Puerto Rico for the project. One of those lovely ladies decided to join the Rotary Club of Peachtree City as a result of the experience. The day included a choose-your-time schedule with none giving more than about an hour. It was fun, conversational, and purposeful …and we have a new Rotarian in our club.
