Lily Jean Bownes from Edinburgh, Scotland, hosted last year by Buckhead R/C and Tucker R/C, attended Georgia State University. At the end of the year, she writes:
This has been the best opportunity I could have asked for and am so grateful to be here. The acceptance email really gave me something to look forward to and yet I still couldn't have guessed just how good it would be.
I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to experience it all with. The other students are definitely a highlight. I value how well we all get along and how comfortable we are with each other. It's so interesting learning about everyone's cultures and lives, we never get bored of each other. It's always good vibes when we're together, GRSPs are better than coffee! So much love for all these crusty people.
My university has been awesome. It's great being in Atlanta because it's such an interesting and central city. Georgia State University has allowed me to take some fascinating classes that I wouldn't have gotten the chance to take at home. I've made some amazing friends and good memories there. Ariana has been an important part of my year and we will definitely be seeing her in Scotland.
This year has been so much more than I expected. I have made some lifelong friendships and gained invaluable experiences. Being a GRSP is something I will always be proud of. I will be forever grateful to Rotary and all the people I've met here for making this year what it is.
