Challenged by Rotary International President Barry Rassin to BE THE INSPIRATION, Roswell Rotary donated over $204,000 to over 30 charities on March 21, 2019 inspiring them to continue their important work in Roswell and around the world. The funds were raised solely through Roswell Rotary’s annual Aubrey Greenway Golf and Hagan Cup Classic Tennis Tournaments held in September where nearly every Roswell Rotarian was involved through sponsorship, volunteering, and promotion of the tournaments setting an all-time record for fundraising.
Charity Committee Co-Chairs, Nancy Diamond and Rich Dippolito, accepted nearly 40 grant applications which were vetted by a committee of over 20 Roswell Rotarians.Nancy Diamond commented, “It’s an honor to do this, but it isn’t always easy. The needs are growing every year and all of these organizations do amazing work.”
Through these grants, Roswell Rotary supports efforts to provide for the homeless through housing, mentoring and food, to educate children including pre-k and elementary through college scholarships, to honor our veterans, to feed our children, to support our seniors, to support the arts and Roswell’s historic community, and to enhance academic and vocational opportunities for high school students. “The success of our Golf and Tennis Tournaments allowed Roswell Rotary’s reach to extend beyond just its membership and inspire those who serve our community to do more to help those in need,” stated Roswell Rotary President Becky Stone. “The impact of these grants will be felt for generations as Roswell Rotary through our charity partners touch so many lives.”
In addition to providing funding, Roswell Rotarians founded several of these organizations, serve on their boards and volunteer in their efforts to serve others.
March 21 was a day of INSPIRATION for all!
