This has been an amazing year for The Rotary Foundation in our district – and it’s not over yet. The work you have done this year has changed the world and served as an inspiration for others. For that, thank you!
This year 67 district grants were awarded, and you did wonderful things with this money. You provided books for pre-K children and little libraries, dictionaries to third graders and refugees. You conducted community clean ups. You provided food, school supplies and clothing for children. You installed playground equipment. You helped protect victims of human trafficking and worked to prevent veteran suicides. No matter how you measure success, you met the criteria!
In addition, we provided money to ship emergency supplies to Puerto Rico and wheelchairs to American Samoa as well as packing 10,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger. But that’s not all…
As of right now we have 31 active Global Grants, four awaiting approval by the Foundation and ten more in draft stage. And you aren’t dragging your feet! We have closed 16 Global Grants this year. This district – and that means YOU – does more Global Grants than any other district in the world! You have done an amazing job of working together to make these grants happen with several clubs providing funding as they were able as well as making contacts around the world to build on prior successes. That is how Global Grants are supposed to work!
Your Global Grant projects this year have funded scholarships for American students who will return with valuable experience as well as ensuring children around the world learn to read so they can have a brighter future. You are providing medical equipment for hospitals, mothers and children as well as health services to refugees and other under served groups. You are providing clean water and school supplies. You are creating a world that gives people a chance not only to survive, but to strive. Thank you.
The support you have given to PolioPlus this year is record setting! You have achieved the highest level of giving ever for our district – over $430,000 so far. I say so far, because there are still 33 clubs that have not sent in their PolioPlus donations.
You have also supported the Annual Fund (SHARE) which is where the money comes from to fund our future District and Global Grants. Again, so far you have donated over $600,000. While it isn’t a record year, I know you aren’t done yet. There are at least 14 clubs that haven’t sent their donations in yet. Please get those in the mail soon so they are credited to this Rotary year.
You are on track to have the best overall giving for the past six (maybe longer!) While this is a cool thing to achieve; I don’t ask you to give just to set a record. I don’t ask you to give because DG Court or I might get a pat on the head (we won’t). I am asking you to give because it is your donations that allow this district to fund all the amazing things you do with grants.
Give so you can continue to Be An Inspiration to the world.
I am excited about the opportunities for service and impact in our communities 3 years from now as a result of the contributions you have made this Rotary year!

Excellant article I would like to share it with our club. I asked Roy Strickland to give a overview yesterday at our meeting and the participation was awesome, club members donated pledges of $700.00 to Polioplus and 10 sustaining members added. This article will reinforce these great decisions made by members yesterday.
